We will study creative ways to engage our students with works of art–from discussion to to writing to creative learning activities. In addition to practicing, modeling, and discussing the techniques, you will also have a chance to work with your colleagues to come up with your own learning activities in the art museum.
Because the workshop will be highly collaborative and discussion-based with a lot of hands-on, minds-on activities, the group will be small. I will only be accepting 25 participants.
I can’t wait to work with you!
This workshop is for:
- Art teachers
- Classroom teachers who want to incorporate more art discussion into their lessons
- Home Educators
- Museum Educators
The strategies we cover will work for any age group or level, so all are welcome who work with children!
Saturday, July 29, 2017, 10am – 4pm
Downtown Dallas, TX
Part of the workshop will be held at the Dallas Fort Work coworking space and part will be held at the Dallas Museum of Art where we will get to work hands on with art. We will travel between the two sites on the nostalgic McKinney Avenue Trolley.
The Dallas Museum of Art is not affiliated with the workshop. We will just be making a self-guided visit together.
The workshop costs $169. This includes the full day workshop and materials, coffee/pastries in the morning, and lunch.
The best way to get to Dallas Fort Work is through public transportation. This link has detailed information for how to get to the space from just about anywhere in Dallas. The space is right by Akard station.
Your other options are street parking at meters, paid garages, or valet at the Hilton Garden Inn next door.
Can I earn Professional Development credit?
We are not affiliated with an accrediting agency, but each participant will receive a certificate for 6 hours of professional development. For more information about your state’s PD requirements and how this workshop might fit in, please visit this link.
What if I need to cancel?
I will offer a full refund up until 45 days before the workshop minus a $25 processing fee. After June 15, 2017, there will be no refunds. You are welcome to sell or transfer your ticket to someone else.
What should I bring/wear?
Because we will be walking to get to the Trolley and walking around the museums, be sure to wear comfortable shoes! Dallas is very hot in late July, but museums are often cold, so please take that into consideration.
